Illinois Supreme Court issued the following announcement on Dec. 21.
Marcia M. Meis, Director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts, announced that the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit judges voted to select Scott M. Belt as an associate judge of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit.
Mr. Belt received his undergraduate degree in 1986 from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, and his Juris Doctor in 1990 from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. Mr. Belt is currently affiliated with Belt, Dearth and Associates in Morris, Illinois.

ILLINOIS (WAND) - An Illinois judge is seeking the creation of a young adult branch of circuit courts in Illinois, calling the option potentially far more humane than adult criminal courts.Â
The idea was submitted by First District Chief Judge Timothy Evans, who has been Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County since being elected to the position in Sept. 2001. Evans
shared his thoughts as a guest columnist on the Illinois Courts website.Â
Evans said this third branch of circuit court, named Young Adult Court, would specifically address conduct of emerging adults, or people between 18 and 26 years old.

Illinois Supreme Court issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.
The Illinois Supreme Court announced the approval of Order M.R.18368, which provides a timeline for the expansion of the Remote Access Policy (RAP) for Illinois licensed attorneys and legal services providers in User Group 5. “This is an important step forward in providing access to justice in our state,” Chief Justice Burke said.
“Remote access to court documents has become ever more important due to the ongoing pandemic and limiting in-person appearances at courthouses.”
Under the expansion, Illinois licensed attorneys and legal service providers in User Group 5 will be allowed access to the following:

EDWARDSVILLE William Mudge, Chief Judge of the Third Judicial Circuit of Illinois, has given notice of two associate judge vacancies.
The vacancies exist because of the election of Associate Judge Stephen A. Stobbs to the circuit court and the resignation of Associate Judge John B. Julian, both which took effective Dec. 7.
Applications are being taken from any U.S. citizen who is an attorney licensed to practice law in Illinois and a resident of the Third Judicial Circuit of Madison and Bond counties.
The applicatiuon for appointment to the office of associate judge was revised Sept. 17, 2019, and only applications on the revised form will be accepted.
