Yet a board member said the program s parents are exhausted fighting the district. I m told that parents need to advocate for their children at every turn, board member Jim Collins said during a virtual forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters. Clearly, there is a reason they assume fighting is a more practical option than having a conversation. I think many of our special ed parents are simply exhausted.

Hearing Set for Next Week in Manker Suit to Restore Name to Ballot

During a telephonic conference this morning, Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Chris Reif set a hearing for next week in the suit filed by Village President candidate Tyson Manker, against the Village of South Jacksonville’s Electoral Board. On Monday attorneys for the Electoral Board filed a motion to push back the hearing to next Thursday, February 18 th at 10:00 am. Judge Reif set the hearing for next Wednesday, February 17 th at 2:00 pm in Morgan County Court.

On January 26 th, Tyson Manker filed suit in Morgan County Court to have his name restored to the ballot in the upcoming April Consolidated Election. The Village of South Jacksonville Electoral Board consisting of current village president Harry Jennings, Village Clerk Megan Moore, and village trustee Paula Belobradjic-Stewart voted unanimously to have Manker struck from the ballot on the grounds that Manker failed to file his statement of economic interest with the Morgan County Clerk’s Office as required by state law in a hearing on January 21st. The objection to Manker’s candidacy was filed by current village trustee and current opponent Dick Samples. Manker contends and has evidence that he was directed via email by Morgan County Clerk Jill Waggoner’s Office to file the statement at the Village of South Jac

B.L.U.F. ( Bottom Line Up Front ): The township clerk did not properly notify the Democrat and Republican Parties of the upcoming Lottery to determine ballot position, as required under the Illinois Election Code. The lottery was held, and at the lottery, several people from the Republican Party were present to observe, and the Clerk drew an R ball from the bag and declared the Republican party would be first on the ballot for the upcoming April election. This was videotaped. There was no collusion, no participation in illegal activities by those there witnessing the lottery, no conspiring by any party, no co-conspirators, nothing other than the Clerk failed to properly notify the political parties.
