New York State Team New York’s parolee population may soon have the right to vote when they are released from prison.  A bill received final approval from the state Legislature on Wednesday that would amend state election law to give parolees the option to vote following their release from incarceration, aiming to facilitate community reintegration and civic participation.  The bill passed the Democratic-led Assembly after passing in the Senate in February.  It would require that parolees are notified of their voting rights, provided with a voter registration or declination form, afforded assistance in filling out those forms and given other resources on voting rights.
