FEMA announced they have opened applications for funeral assistance, funding up to $9000.
If approved, an applicant can be reimbursed up to $9000 per funeral, or $35,500 per application, per state/territory
According to FEMA, the applicants must provide documentation to include a death certificate, which discloses the cause of death as COVID-19 , and applicants must be United States citizens.
FEMA may cover funeral costs dating back to January 2020.
No online applications will be accepted. FEMA will be accepting mailed and faxed applications.

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, only 30 guests are permitted to attend the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral at St. George's Chapel in Windsor which will take place next week.

Rutherford County, TN A Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) program launched Monday to assist with financial expenses of funerals for COVID-19 related deaths.
Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency (RCEMA) wants to inform the local community about the program.
“We recognize that our community has suffered at various lengths due to the pandemic,” said Public Safety Director Chris Clark. “ We want to make sure we’re keeping our citizens informed about available assistance programs, including FEMA’s most recent COVID-19 Funeral Assistance Program.”
