Hope for the Heartbroken: COVID-19 grief support group

RIPLEY COUNTY – Hope for The Heartbroken Support Group is a free, four-week series that is designed to be educational and supportive. This specific series was created by Loving Hearts Hospice to offer understanding, compassion and support for those who have lost someone they loved through COVID-19. Losing someone without the opportunity to see them, hug them or laugh and cry with them requires experienced professionals to guide you through the grief that follows. Loving Hearts Hospice provides a safe, supportive place where you can mourn, share and process your personal loss. We are here to walk alongside you and provide information that is relevant to losing a loved one from the COVID-19 virus. Most importantly, we provide compassionate support while we journey with you through your grief.

Northwest Colorado Health: Coping with grief this holiday season

Coping with an empty chair this Christmas

TOMAH, Wis. (WKBT) – The holiday season is a special time marked by celebrations and gatherings with family and friends, however, health officials know that for those struggling with the death of a loved one the holidays may be a bit more difficult. The holidays tend to bring out traditions, storytelling and memories – all of which can trigger various emotions. That’s why experts at Tomah Health Hospice Touch say it’s more important than ever to acknowledge what they call the “empty chair”. “Those that are grieving they may not feel capable of reaching out or know when to reach out,” said Samantha Warsaw, Bereavement Coordinator and Social Worker for Tomah Hospice Touch. “We certainly would encourage people to just pick up the phone, and call them. Sometimes just hearing from another person and knowing that they still have that support system is enough to kind of pull somebody through.”
