IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. A 22-year-old Mooresville man is in custody in Iredell County after authorities say he stabbed another man during an altercation over a computer.
Deputies were called to the scene in the area of Beracah Road, near Mooresville on Jan. 5 in response to a stabbing.
Police say Cody Lee Choate stabbed a man after the victim refused to let him use his computer to purchase narcotics.
The victim told investigators with the Iredell County Sheriff s Office that Choate became angry with him, grabbed a knife, and chased him down the street before stabbing him.

STATESVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) - The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting death that occurred off Molly Lane in Statesville.
Deputies say a call came in around 11:55 p.m. Thursday about a shooting off the 100 block of Molly Lane. There, they found a male with a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was taken to a nearby medical facility and pronounced dead.
According to witnesses, the man was assaulting his wife. A family member confronted him, leading to a struggle before the man was shot.
Sheriff Campbell releases statement about death investigation last night
Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 11:55 pm, Iredell County Emergency Communications received a call from 103 Molly Lane, Statesville in reference to a shooting which had occurred. The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the location.
When the responding deputies arrived they located a victim who had a gunshot wound to his chest. The victim was transported to a local medical facility where he was pronounced dead.
Upon initial investigation, witnesses said the deceased was assaulting his wife when he was confronted by a family member. A struggle ensured between the two men, and a shot was fired striking the deceased in the chest.
Detectives with the Iredell County Sheriff's Office say a science teacher at North Iredell High School is under arrest after he exchanged sexual messages with a student.

MOORESVILLE, NC An Iredell County teacher was suspended with pay after he was arrested and charged Wednesday with one felony county of indecent liberties with a student.
According to authorities, the Iredell County Sheriff s Office received a report from a North Iredell High School school resource officer Wednesday that teacher John Dean Woody, 23, of Elkin, North Carolina had communicated inappropriately with a student.
In a statement, Iredell-Statesville Schools said Woody is suspended pending an ICSO investigation. He was hired by the school district in September, and most recently served as a science teacher at North Iredell High School in Olin, ISS said.
