Trevante Rhodes best known for Moonlight and The United States Vs. Billie Holiday is putting on the gloves to star as the storied and iconic boxing champion Mike Tyson, in Iron Mike, the upcoming Hulu limited series.
Anything Jake Paul-related practically guarantees shenanigans. After his next fight announcement today, Ali Abdelaziz provided even more.
The news came out Monday that Paul will have his fourth career pro boxing match. To the surprise of no one, it was yet again a non-boxer revealed as his would-be opponent.
Expected to face the 3-0 Paul is a former UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley. The fight’s date is currently unknown but a Friday announcement and faceoff is reportedly taking place in Miami on Friday.
However, prominent MMA manager, Ali Abdelaziz, has now come out to claim that all the “rumors” aren’t true at all. Instead, Paul will face former UFC middleweight and light heavyweight title challenger, Chael Sonnen, according to the Dominance MMA head.
Chael Sonnen has joked about the idea of him entering the world of celebrity boxing to take on the likes of Jake Paul.
Sonnen was the king of trash talk back in his UFC days and even now, he likes to throw out the occasional joke from time to time either on social media or through his YouTube channel.
It seems as if he’s pretty content with the career he’s had and given everything he was able to accomplish inside the Octagon, we can’t say that we’re surprised.
Alas, something tells us he might be joking when he talks about the possibility of a celebrity boxing transition.
