Cedar City â After seeing streets filled as deep as a river, Dylan Folks, 18, is filling sandbags for his community in order to stay safe during this summerâs monsoon season. The National Weather Service forecasts more heavy rain Friday, after a massive storm Monday required a declaration of emergency for the city and for the rest of Iron County.
âIâm pretty sure there will be another storm on Friday,â Folks said. âEverybody has sandbags. I think we are pretty prepared now.â
Folks lives in a neighborhood that saw water as deep as three to nine feet, with some citizens here requiring evacuation to the Red Cross shelter near downtown.

An additional 3,245
cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Wisconsin since July 21, more than double the number of new cases reported in the week prior, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported Wednesday, July 28.
The rise in the number of new cases prompted DHS to adopt new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance recommending fully-vaccinated people in indoor settings wear a mask in areas with high rates of infection. Nine counties in northwest Wisconsin have high rates of infection. Only Douglas County has a medium level of new infections, DHS data shows.
