Erie Chief Fire Inspector Darren Hart said no one is seeking to snuff out anyone s backyard campfire fun.
Instead, Erie Bureau of Fire officials hope a series of proposed changes to the city s current burning regulations, will promote safety and be more neighbor-friendly, he said.
Among the proposed changes that Hart outlined to members of Erie City Council on Wednesday night include placing a time limit on when recreational fires are permitted. The proposed schedule, if approved, would permit fires between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and between 6 p.m. and midnight Friday through Sunday and on holidays.
