Those troops were deployed on Sunday as officials in the state of Nuevo Leon have been working to secure the highway. The area is dominated by drug cartels and is a major border crossing to and from Laredo, Texas. Thousands of travelers use this freeway each day to cross the border in and out of Laredo.
