Two Norfolk zoo tigers, possibly a third, are COVID positive

13 hours ago in Local Photo: WINA NORFOLK (WINA) – Two Malaysian tigers at the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk have tested positive for the coronavirus… and a test is pending on a third. In a Wednesday Facebook post, zoo officials report the animal care team noticed mild respiratory symptoms going on last week with Stubbley and and Osceola that included a dry cough and wheezing. Because these symptoms were consistent with previous COVID cases diagnosed in big cats at other zoos, they tested these two out of an abundance of caution. Nasal swabs and fecal samples were taken and have tested positive. The third tiger, Christopher, has since developed mild symptoms and they await test results.
