The firefighter assigned to the Granite Pass Complex was scouting an area and missed their scheduled check-in. Missoula County dispatchers were notified of the missing person at approximately 7:30 p.m. and California Interagency Incident Management Team 15 began multiple attempts to contact the man. Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jeannette Smith says the team then began to search for the missing firefighter both on the ground and from the air.
