South Lake Tahoe Mayor enters race for El Dorado County Supervisor

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - South Lake Tahoe Mayor Tamara Wallace announced today that she has submitted paperwork to the Secretary of State and El Dorado County Elections Department concerning her forming a committee to run for the County District 5 Supervisor seat.

manich@leaderherald.com GLOVERSVILLE The city has more income from taxable property this year, but actual collecting of taxes has been a little slow going. Gloversville’s taxable income has risen by about $4 million since last year, a positive economic sign, officials noted Tuesday. In a brief report to the Common Council at City Hall, Assessor Joni Dennie said she has been reviewing tentative tax roll information. She said the city of Gloversville’s taxable income has increased by $3.8 million from a year ago. She said it goes with a rising trend the last few years. “That’s really positive,” Dennie said.

(Photo Provided) The Lubeck Acres Garden Club met April 15 at the Lubeck Bank of Williamstown conference room. Members in attendance were Judi White, Carolyn Stephens, Linda Seabolt, Keith Cutright, Dina Braniff, Beth Drake, Lynn Greenly, Mike Armstrong and Lynn VanFosson. Elections were held and White will continue as president, Luwana Rhodes will be program chair, Armstrong will be Treasurer, VanFosson will be secretary and Braniff will serve as Conservation Club chair. White brought a horticulture specimen, garlic mustard, which has a white bloom this time of year. It probably has the best taste when it has grown in the shade in the woods. She was going to saute it for dinner that evening.

The five Berkshire roundabouts we simply dread travelling through A number of towns across Berkshire have a lot of roundabouts.  For example, anyone who has lived in Bracknell will understand how many you have to drive through just to get to the town centre alone. Slough is another town known for its confusing roundabouts. Remember having to drive around the scary Sainsbury s roundabout to pass your driving test? I do. But if you have just moved to Berkshire or are learning to drive, then the roads can be confusing, fast-paced and a nightmare to get to grips with. Whether it be the monstrosity of the Twin Bridges roundabout or Windsor s confusing (so many lanes) roundabout, Berkshire s road network can be a pain at the best of times.

Flooding washes out parts of the River Valley

Over four inches of rain feel is just a few hours. Areas that a prone to flooding will begin to dry out as we head towards the weekend.
