Joe Sajevic knew serving as the executive director for the Fremont Public Schools Foundation was the right place for him when he took the position in 2016.
Sajevic replaced David Pinkall, who founded the foundation, as executive director five years ago. Prior, Sajevic supervised student teachers at the University of Nebraska Omaha. Earlier in his career, Sajevic served as the principal of Fremont High School from 2001 to 2012.
Those strong ties to the school district played a large part in his decision to accept the executive director position.
âMy background with FPS really influenced me,â Sajevic said. âI really care about the system and the kids.â
The Graduation Rate has remained high at 95% compared to 96% the previous year.
9th Grade on Track has increased from 96% to 97%.
Students participating in Early College Coursework has increased from 38.3% to 41.9%.
This includes AP courses and Dual Credit Courses.

The approval of controversial permits for the Summerâs End marina project in Coral Bay, removal of the King Christian statue from Emancipation Garden, a bill to provide beach access ramps for persons with disabilities, and ID cards for Indigenous Virgin Islanders were among dozens of measures passed during Fridayâs legislative session.

The marina project has generated both support and condemnation over the years, and Sen. Myron Jackson unsuccessfully introduced an amendment in the nature of a substitute bill, before senators voted to approve the measure as originally proposed.
Bill No. 33-0428 is âan Act ratifying the Major Coastal Zone Permitsâ for the marina project and a letter from Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. to managing member Chaliese Summers dated Dec. 18, modifying the consolidated permits.
