44th annual Griz Days this weekend | Elk Valley, Fernie

Posted: March 5, 2021 44th annual Griz Days this weekend Fernie’s wild and often wacky Griz Days is far from normal at the best of times. This year, it’s going to be modified with COVID-19 front and centre in planning of festival events, running from March 4 to Sunday, March 7. Among modifications is the annual parade. Rather than the parade going to the masses; the masses are asked to go to the parade. The Griz Days Drive-Thru Float Display will go from 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Fernie Secondary School. Jump in your car to come judge the Griz Days parade floats. The floats stay in one place as the community drives past voting online for the winners.

As Boise Homeless Shelter Looks For New Home, Neighbors Balk At Location

20:16 Boise’s Interfaith Sanctuary is looking for a new home for people experiencing homelessness. Shelter Executive Director Jodi Peterson Stigers believes they’ve found one: the former Salvation Army Thrift Store and food pantry in the 4300 block of West State Street. Idaho Matters spoke with Peterson Stigers last month; listen back to that interview here. But some people who live in the Veterans Park neighborhood are fighting against this proposal location. Today, Idaho Matters spoke with three people who live in the area and are against the possible shelter: Katy Decker is the Veterans Park Neighborhood Association Vice President and Bobbie Aitchison and Matt Oman live in the area.
