Woman Killed While Cooking Inside Apartment After Bullets Tear Through Walls

A Connecticut woman was killed while cooking inside her apartment Wednesday evening when bullets tore through the walls during a drive-by shooting, police said.
Hartford mom Sylvia Cordova, 56, was hit by at least one stray bullet that proved fatal while preparing dinner in her kitchen on 28 Sisson Ave., CBS affiliate WFSB reported. Absolutely tragic. For this to occur to a woman in the security of her home is tragic, said Lt. Aaron Boisvert, commander of the Hartford Police Department s (HPD) Major Crimes Division.
At least nine gunshots emerged from a car toward her apartment on the first floor, and police believe that Cordova was an unintended target.

A woman on scene told NBC 6 the deceased victim is her grandnephew, who was about 20 to 21 years old. He was walking through the hallway when he was gunned down.
“I’m shocked for somebody to kill him, said Ms. Gilbert, the victim s relative who only gave her last name. Just run by and open fire like that, come on.
She says she’s had enough of the violence. It is sad. It’s time, God is coming back. So much killing among our Black people, she said.
