GREAT FALLS â Great Falls Public Schools will be conducting driver education courses in June. Registration will open at 8:00 am on Tuesday, May 25, and run until 4:00 pm on Thursday, May 27. There are 30 in person seats at GFHS and 30 in person seats at CMR. Priority will be given to students according to birthdate (oldest to youngest).
GFPS driving instructor Jerry Olson: âEach student gets a 30 minute drive. They get six hours of driving so we break that into twelve lessons. So my first two are just orientation. The third one is reference points and backing up, parking, and then we go into one ways and lane changes. Rural interstate downtown, 10th Ave and then we prepare them for the final drive.â

NEW JERSEY More changes have come to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission now that the agency continues to deal with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Brenda Sue Fulton, the chief administrator of the Motor Vehicle Commission, said the agency has overhauled its technical infrastructure to help move the vast majority of transactions online. Not that things are rosy, now – far from it. Not when six to 12 agencies are closed due to staff quarantines on any given day, Fulton told the state Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee on Thursday. Hearing that we are doing 20 percent more transactions than before COVID is no consolation if it s your appointment that was canceled.

The 2020 state Legislature approved the measure which is designed to strengthen the state’s graduated driver’s license laws covering teen drivers between the ages of 14 and 18. Due to COVID-19, Gov. Kristi Noem suspended implementation of the new law through June 30, 2021.
“This new law changes some of the eligibility requirements for teen instruction permits and operator licenses,” said Jane Schrank, director of the state Driver Licensing Program. “We encourage young drivers and their families to closely review the new law and its provisions before July 1 to see how they will be impacted.”
