UMS Announcing In-Person And Digital 2021-22 Season

UMS President Matthew VanBesien Credit Peter Smith The 2021-22 UMS season will include a variety of in-person performances, as well as digital content, according to its president, Matthew VanBesien. The season will include a number of new “commissioned” performances, and the UMS president says the live performances will begin later than they usually do in a typical season. The first in-person event will be the Big Band Holidays with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra on Sunday, November 28 in Hill Auditorium. VanBesien says they are taking many precautions to make sure people attending in person events are protected and comfortable.

Reflexions Episode Two: Imani Winds

30:25 RefleXions Music Series, a project funded by the University of Arkansas Chancellor s Grant for the Humanities and Performing Arts Initiative, has partnered with KUAF 91.3 to produce the new RefleXions Podcast, which is co-hosted by Ozarks at Large s Antoinette Grajeda and U of A Music Professor Lia Uribe, who is also the host of the weekly Sound Perimeter segment on OAL. The second episode of the podcast features Imani Winds co-founders Monica Ellis and Toyin Spellman-Diaz who also joined the U of A this spring for a virtual residency. Tags:

Salt City String Quartet to wrap Ke-nekt season on April 28 | Arts and Entertainment

OSWEGO - Top musicians from Central New York’s Symphoria Orchestra will wrap SUNY Oswego’s Ke-nekt’ Chamber Music Series with a free, live virtual concert by the Salt City String Quartet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 28. Consisting of violinists Peter Rovit and Sonya Williams, violist Arvilla Wendland and cellist Heidi Hoffman, the quartet will begin the program with Antonin Dvořák’s String Quartet in F Major, Op. 96 “American.” Trevor Jorgensen, chair and associate professor of Oswego’s music department, will join them for Carl Maria von Weber’s Clarinet Quintet in Bb Major, Op. 34. While tickets are free, reservations are required via tickets.oswego.edu.
