With spring officially upon us and COVID-19 still spreading as the country’s mass vaccination effort is underway, it can be tough to tell the difference between allergies, a coronavirus infection, and side effects post-vaccination.
Doctors say that itchiness and fever are the big tells. Allergies don t usually give fever but they do make you feel itchy and scratchy.
Viral infections will give you chills or fever and make you tired.
Allergies don t usually make you very tired. Also, allergies don t make you short of breath or give you diarrhea like the novel coronavirus can.
As far as symptoms you may feel after vaccination, side effects in most cases are pain in the arm, fatigue, and sometimes headache. Those usually occur 4 hours or so after vaccination and resolve within 24-36 hours.
