The founding director of Vital Capital Fund, Eytan Stibbe, is one of the four people that will be going on the first-ever entirely private mission to the International Space Station (ISS). Stibbe has been investing in Africa for the past 26 years.
Axiom Space, an American aerospace manufacturer and orbital spaceflight service provider, announced the private crew on Tuesday. Joining Stibbe on the proposed Axiom Mission 1 (Ax-1) are former astronaut of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Axiom’s vice president Michael López-Alegría; American entrepreneur and non-profit activist investor Larry Connor; and Canadian investor and philanthropist Mark Pathy.
During the opening events of Israeli Space Week, as part of the 16th International Ilan Ramon Conference, Israeli astronaut Eytan Stibbe spoke about his upcoming mission to the International Space Station (ISS) set to take place in October.
During the Ramon Science Communications Conference sponsored by the Ramon Foundation and Calcalist, which was held online due to Covid-19 restrictions, Stibbe related that former NASA astronaut Garrett Resiman was partially behind the inspiration to send Stibbe to space. Reisman, a former consultant at SpaceX was head of the company’s Dragon spacecraft program. “When I called to wish him success, he said you’re going next. It seemed like a dream back then, but suddenly this mission will take place in a year from now.”

The Israel Space Agency is soliciting ideas for research experiments to be carried out by the second Israeli ever in space when he takes part in a mission to the International Space Station late next year.
The agency, part of the Ministry of Science and Technology, announced last month that Eytan Stibbe will take part in a mission made up entirely of privately funded individual funding their own flights. Stibbe, a former fighter pilot in the Israel Air Force who holds numerous IAF records, is the head of a private equity fund and reportedly a multi-millionaire.
