UK green groups form new business alliance to spur corporate race to net-zero
A cohort of UK corporate green groups have formally banded together to launch the UK Business Group Alliance for Net Zero (BGA), in a bid to raise climate action in the build-up to COP26 and to ensure the nation meets its net-zero target for 2050.
The BGA is encouraging corporates to sign up to the Race to Zero campaign
The BGA has formally launched today (29 April) and consists of the CISL’s Corporate Leaders Group, the Aldersgate Group, Business in the Community, the CBI, CDP, the International Investors Group on Climate Change, the UK Business Council for Sustainable Development and the UK Green Building Council.

International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA) becomes the first Race to Zero member representing the wine and agricultural industry
IWCA has joined the global campaign Race to Zero, a United Nations-backed, global campaign to rally leadership and support from businesses, cities, regions, and investors for a healthy, resilient, zero-carbon recovery that prevents future threats, creates decent jobs, and unlocks inclusive, sustainable growth.
Launched on World Environment Day 2020 (5 June), the objective for the campaign is to build momentum around the shift to a decarbonized economy ahead of COP26, where governments must strengthen their contributions to the Paris Agreement.

Urban Climate Action Focus of Zero Carbon City Forum
UN Climate Change News, 17 March – The Zero Carbon City International Forum, hosted by the Government of Japan, got underway today with the aim of boosting the work done by cities in their quest for net zero emissions.
The 2-day Forum provides a platform for cities and organizations from across the globe to share concrete efforts to accelerate the transformation towards a resilient and decarbonized society by 2050 at the latest. It is being held with the support of UN Climate Change, ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES.)
