Registration now open for the 2021 Indy Ultimate

Apr 15, 2021 / 09:10 AM EST INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Those interested can now sign up to take part in the 2021 Indy Ultimate. The Indy Ultimate is a run/walk that incorporates some of Indy’s most recognizable landmarks and venues, including the Indiana War Memorial and Lucas Oil Stadium. Sarah Myer, senior director of marketing at the Indiana Sports Corp., was on Daybreak Thursday. She talked some of the pandemic precautions participants can expect and the cost of registration. The event is June 19 from 8 a.m. until noon and WISH-TV’s Drew Blair will be the emcee. WISH-TV is a proud sponsor of the event again this year.

Op-ed: NCAA tournament was as historic as its backdrop was somber

This year’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament was nothing short of historic. On that, we all agree. And most people understand that the backdrop against which it was set was unprecedented in so many ways and logistically complex and had a seemingly endless supply of unique challenges to overcome. Reasonable people, too, acknowledge the severity and somber nature of the events that resulted in the Indianapolis-controlled environment in the first place. As we have all said over and over again: May we never have to host this kind of an event in this way for these reasons ever again.

IndyStar Letters to the Editor

IndyStar There has been a lot of noise on both sides of the issue regarding Senate Bill 389, aka “the wetlands bill.” One side says the legislation will be detrimental to an array of wildlife species. The other says SB 389 merely addresses puddles in farm fields that are not really wetlands. It all can be very confusing. I’ll try to offer some clarity. Senate Bill 389 would be egregiously bad for all Hoosiers for two reasons: flooding and drinking water. First of all, most of Indiana’s natural wetlands have already been destroyed. This happened a long time ago, when wilderness areas were converted to agriculture. Still, much of Indiana is pretty wet: Those endless farm fields you see across Indiana lie on top of hundreds of millions of miles of drainage tiles that move water away.
