City officials are urging residents to stay off the roads unless necessary. Most of Indiana is currently under a winter storm warning. By midnight, there should be a widespread 10-12 inches of snow. Indy Parks has set up a warming center at Municipal Gardens at 1831 Lafayette Road.

“Wayne County Remains under a winter Storm Warning. Wayne County has seen snow accumulations of roughly 3 to 5 inches and higher amounts in some locations. Snow will continue to fall for the next several hours and the drifting will continue overnight.

Another winter storm system tore through Northwest Indiana and the Chicago area overnight into Tuesday morning and brought heavy snowfall that resulted in dangerous, and in some cases impossible travel, officials said.
The worst impacts of the system were near the lakefront in Lake and Porter counties.
During a 24-hour period from Monday to Tuesday morning, Munster saw 9.7 inches of snowfall, followed closely behind Gary and Crown Point with 9.5 inches and Portage and Chesterton with 8 inches, National Weather Service reported.

MUNCIE, Ind. If you re considering venturing out onto the roads Tuesday, checking the local travel advisory should be the first thing you do after Monday s snow storm.
Blackford was the only county still under a red travel advisory well into Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
Delaware, Randolph, Madison, Grant, Jay, Henry and Wayne counties all were in the orange status.
Those in the red status, the highest level of advisory, means only emergency management workers should be on the roadways. This is important to note during an emergency as being caught out under a red travel advisory could lead to fines.
