A bot developed by two students of the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology in Delhi, sends alerts to users about open slots on the CoWin app, thus improving the chances of successfully booking a slot. Launched on May 4, the bot has garnered 60,000 users since.
Developed by Rohan Rajpal and Paras Mehan, ‘CoWin Alerts’ is a Telegram bot – therefore, can only be used with Telegram app that alerts you whenever there is an open vaccine slot for your dose and age group. When the government opened registrations for vaccination of 18-44 age group on the CoWin app, users faced a lot of technical challenges in booking a slot. Since the volume of users was so high, slots were getting filled within seconds of opening up leaving users frustrated. The trick was knowing when a centre would open up slots and book it right then.

Lucknow, April 8 : The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Lucknow is launching two online full-time management courses considering the Covid-19 pandemic.
The institute s MBA in Digital Business (2 years) and Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (1 year) courses will be run by its department of management and humanities, completely in the online mode.
From teaching, submission of assignments and examinations, to getting a master s degree, everything will be done with just a click of the mouse.
IIIT-director, Arun Mohan Sherry, said, We have increased the number of seats for MBA in Digital Business from 60 to 100 while for Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management the admissions will be done for 30 seats.
Prayagraj: Indian Institute of Information Technology-Allahabad (IIIT-A) would soon be launching a new five-year Integrated (Dual Degree) program in management course, focusing on employable business courses. Now, any student can get admission in MBA soon after passing intermediate exam.
This will be a unique curriculum being launched under the new education policy. Following this, IIIT-A would become the first institution in the country to launch such a course. Moreover, while pursing this course, students under the provisions of the new education policy will have three different exit options. Students who wish to leave this course after three years will be given BBA degree.
India’s first digital university opens

The governor of Kerala, Arif Mohammed Khan, has inaugurated the country’s first digital university in the state. Kerala University of Digital Sciences, Innovation and Technology was established by upgrading the two-decade old state government’s Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Kerala, reports

The university was formed with a vision of creating a futuristic institution of higher learning, aspiring to set a global benchmark in digital technologies and its management, an official statement said.
India’s first digital university will focus on postgraduate programmes and research along with building strong industry-academic and academic-academic linkages with leading institutions in India and abroad.
