INDIAN RIVER COUNTY The local Republican Party rolled out a litany of speakers Saturday pushing conspiracy theories and election denial, headlined by U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, before at least 300 people at an America First Rally.
The controversial event at the Indian River County Fairgrounds & Expo Center was condemned by the Indian River County Democratic Party.
It drew an excited crowd of conservatives wearing Trump paraphernalia. They often stood to applaud charges that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump.
“No matter how upset you are about the presidential election and no matter what you’re seeing in the news,” Greene said, “it’s not over. You want to know why? I’m there. And guess what else? This is bigger. All of you are here.”
Participants in the rally, according to organizers, will be Virginia state Sen. Amanda Chase, candidate for governor of Virginia; Wyoming state Sen. Anthony Bouchard, a candidate for Congress against U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney; Drew Montez Clark, whom rally organizers refer to as a “Florida Patriot”; Joe Kent, of Washington, a candidate for Congress against U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler; and Matt Braynard, a former data strategist for the 2016 Trump campaign who testified before state legislatures about unfounded, widespread voter fraud.
U.S. Rep. Bill Posey, R-Rockledge who represents Indian River County said he would not attend today s rally, citing a previous engagement.
Marjorie Taylor Greene mockingly impersonates Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez while recounting her debate challenge
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) remains very determined to debate Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).
On Saturday, while speaking at the America First Rally at the Indian River County Fairgrounds in Florida, Greene recounted an apparent conversation the congresswomen had when Greene approached Ocasio-Cortez in the House chamber about going head-to-head on national television over the contents of the Green New Deal, which Greene believes will destroy the U.S. economy.
While telling her version of the story, Greene mockingly impersonated Ocasio-Cortez, who she claims has no clue what she s talking about because she hasn t owned a business. The crowd certainly seemed to enjoy the narrative, but Greene s critics did not, comparing it to something a middle schooler would tell, rather than a sitting congresswoman.
