When Haley VonGoedert went to sign into her very first Zoom meeting with the school sheâll be student-teaching at, she had a message saying the meeting had to be rescheduled because the Wi-Fi in the entire village was down.
âItâs very remote, which is something Iâve never experienced before,â said the senior elementary education student at the University of Montana of her upcoming program placement in a tiny Alaskan fishing community.
In a couple weeks, VonGoedert will fly nearly 2,000 miles to Anchorage, Alaska. Then sheâll hop on a small bush plane and fly another 200 miles to Newhalen, population 182.
