April 13 episode of All Things Equal featured Steve Manley from Ithaca Public Education Initiative, inviting community members to participate in IPEI’s interactive Scavenger Hunt this weekend, April 17-18. The socially distanced, self-paced event highlights Ithaca’s history and landmarks, and helps IPEI support educators and students throughout the Ithaca City School District.

As a former parent of the Ithaca City School District and the mother of two children I have been browbeaten and bullied by the Superintendent of the Ithaca City School District. He has used his power and connections in this town that serve his own purpose and undermine me as a mother and as a citizen. My concern is that this abuse of power is a web that stifles not only my rights but many othersâ rights in the community. I provide a few of my concerns below but I will also be drafting a detailed affidavit that shows that several signatories on the ICSD affidavits have in some way engaged in outright lies, twisting timelines and cherry-picking information in an attempt to create mass confusion and a circus environment in our community. The dissemination of the ICSD affidavits was purposely designed to confuse the public.
ITHACA, NY The past month has been one of a lot of questions for the Ithaca City School District. On Jan. 12, Superintendent Dr. Luvelle Brown resigned from his position effective Feb. 1, and said he was leaving for a job in the private sector. The next day, allegations emerged from his ex-wife, Anjanette Brown, accusing him of abuse of power, misuse of public funds and more. At the Jan. 26 Board of Education meeting, Luvelle reversed his decision and announced he would be staying with the school district.
From the start, the Board of Education said they had received the allegations from Anjanette back in November, during which they determined they were not credible and that it was a personal matter. However, teachers, students, parents and taxpayers have all had questions about what process exactly the board went through to make that determination.
