The first-of-its-kind event will be held virtually over the weekend and is open to public. It is intended to showcase cutting-edge technology, research, innovation and start-ups from the Institute’s ecosystem.

The summit will be held online and feature four conclaves, including one for start-ups. So far, 300 start-ups from across the country are participating. The Innovators’ Conclave has 2,000 registrations and 800 people have registered for the Growth Conclave. The Youth Conclave is expected to attract 1,000 attendees. The theme for this year’s summit is ‘Sustain to Attain’. A social campaign, called ‘Pankh’, will focus on the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises through sustainable business models.

Worker dies in accident at IIT Madras campus Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA A 23-year-old worker died after a marble slab accidentally fell on him from a lorry at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) campus. Police said the accident took place on Monday evening. The deceased has been identified as V. Vijay, 23 from Nallur, Kancheepuram district and he was a load man working with a marble company in Maduravoyal. Accompanied by a driver, he came in a lorry to deliver marble slabs for ongoing construction work at the campus. While he was standing behind the vehicle, the driver suddenly reversed and in the impact, the marble slabs on the truck slid and fell on Vijay and crushed him. He was grievously injured and taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

IIT Madras-incubated start-up Guvi to train over 10 million programmers

Updated: Share Article AAA Guvi, a start-up incubated by the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT M), is on a mission to train over 10 million programmes in the coming months. The start-up, which trains students in coding practice and assessment, has already reached five lakh engineering students through its e-learning platform, using regional languages. It reaches out to students in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities in the country. It offers tech skills that are in demand in the industry in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali and English. On Feb. 16, Guvi will sign an agreement with the Union Minister for Education Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank to be integrated into the National Education Alliance for Technology, (NEAT), a public-private partnership model between the Central government and edu-tech companies being implemented by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
