Property Taxes Not Expected to Rise in Indianola for FY22

Despite several major projects and an increase of public safety staff taking place in 2021, the City of Indianola and Indianola City Council are not planning any property tax increases for the FY2022 budget. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the city is in a good financial position due to the expected growth of the city as well as the hard work from the city financial team to accomplish a lot of the goals for the city without putting any extra strain on residents. Indianola Streetscape Project on Schedule

The Indianola City Council held a study session after their regular meeting Tuesday evening, reviewing the current status of the Downtown Streetscape Project. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the project timetable still lines up with how the city had projected going into 2021. “We are at about 60% of the design process, and we expect to go out to bid at the end of February or early March. And the council received a general update on project cost, construction timelines, and where we are currently at. Three New Officers Joining Indianola Police Department after Swearing In Ceremony

Indianola Mayor Pam Pepper swore in three Indianola Police Officers at the Indianola City Council meeting Tuesday evening, part of a budget priority set by the council several years ago to hire more safety officers for the city. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News during a staffing study in 2017, it was found the city was understaffed by six firefighters and four police officers, to not only meet the needs of the community now but in the future, and the council approved a phase-in plan for the budget to take place over several years, and will continue into next year. Indianola City Council Approves Sale of Property

The Indianola City Council met in regular session Tuesday evening. Mayor Pam Pepper swore in three newly hired Indianola Police Department officers. The council approved the sale of property located at 506 W 2nd Ave, sewer upgrades and plans for the South Plan Lift Station, and temporary road closures for upcoming construction. The council also approved the renaming portions of R-63 Highway within the corporate limits of Indianola, and a professional services agreement for Valley Place Pavement Reconstruction before going into closed session to discuss litigation. The council also held a study session after the meeting concluded, reviewing the status of Downtown Streetscape Project, and FY2022 budget materials.
