Longford estate agent in court over alleged €3k PUP fraud Reporter: liam.cosgrove@longfordleader.ie A Longford estate agent has appeared in court charged with ten counts of allegedly fraudulently claiming over €3,000 in Pandemic Unemployment Payments );   ); An estate agent has appeared in court charged with ten counts of allegedly fraudulently claiming over €3,000 of Pandemic Unemployment Payments (PUP).   Fintan McGill (65), Kilmacannon, Newtownforbes, Co Longford appeared before a sitting of Longford District Court this afternoon charged with ten counts of fraudulently claiming the State s welfare support scheme. The charges date over a two month period between April 28 2020 and June 30 2020, all of which allegedly took place at Ulster Bank, Main Street, Longford under Section 6 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act.

Judge Keenan Johnson issued the direction and said that he would hold a special sitting today to enable the parties to attend after an estimated crowd of 120 people attended a celebration on the outskirts of the town last week. Judge Johnson said he wanted to hear from each of the respective parties involved as to why the event proceeded just hours after an emergency circuit court injunction was granted to remove a 2,000 sq ft marquee which had been erected 24 hours earlier.

While prices didn’t reach the same highs as the autumn premier, which recorded an all-time record price of €4,350, prices did sail past €3,000 on a number of occasions. Top price over the weekend was €3,600, which was achieved by the youngest bull on show, Cahergal Prince. This 13-month-old bull was bred and exhibited by Sonny and Margaret Jennings from Tuam, Co Galway, and was secured by fellow Galway breeder Martin Curran.
