The launch of the new service was postponed from March. The Red Line will cover the greater Bangkok area, running from Thammasat University s Rangsit campus to Bang Sue and Taling Chan. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will preside over the service s launch ceremony on Aug 2.

The graffiti reflects the local way of life, according to Dasta, and provides an alternative activity for visitors apart from the famed Sukhothai and Si Satchanalai historical parks. Street art can be found near Talat Rim Yom 2437BC, or the Rim Yom Market, founded in 1894 on the banks of the Yom River in Kong Krailat district. The market is open on every first Saturday of each month from 4-9pm. Visitors can try popular local snacks such as khanom phing (northern-style cookies made of tapioca flour and coconut milk) and thong muan (crispy coconut rolls).

Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob said he had instructed the SRT to move ahead with its plan to find the right contractors to build the extensions, so the line s construction can be completed by 2025. The four extensions are the 10.2-billion-baht Taling Chan-Salaya section; the 6.57-billion-baht Rangsit-Thammasat extension; and the 6.64-billion-baht Taling Chan-Siriraj section; and the 44.1-billion-baht missing link project connecting Bang Sue to Hua Lamphong.

The meeting was co-chaired by Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob and Ning Jizhe, vice chairman of the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission. After discussing a proposal made by the Thai side to seek a tripartite meeting with Laos to provide regular updates on the progress of the proposed connection of the new line with Laos between Nong Khai and Vientiane both sides agreed that it should become a monthly feature, said a source at the Transport Ministry.
