2020: Accord Party rates Sanwo-Olu high

The party’s Acting State Publicity Secretary, Mr Dele Oladeji, made the assessment on Wednesday in an interview with newsmen in Lagos. He, however, urged the governor to do more to reduce poverty and hardship in the state in 2021. “He (Sanwo-Olu) showed a commendable capacity to rise up to call-of-duty, from his timely responses to the Abule-Egba pipeline explosion, COVID-19 Pandemic and the EndSARS protest. “These are commendable. “However, a lot needs to be done to pull Lagosians out of stack poverty and hardship through practicable economic policies that will grow micro economy, ease transportation and create jobs,” Oladeji said.

Daily Post Nigeria Published What looks like a factional crisis is brewing in the Ekiti State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), as some stakeholders have rejected the reelection of Mr. Ifeoluwa Iyaniwura, as the Chairman of the body. At the election conducted at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) in Ado Ekiti, on Thursday, Iyaniwura polled a total of eight votes to defeat his rival and State Chairman, Action Alliance (AA), Mr. Lanre Anifowose, who garnered six votes. The Chairman, IPAC Electoral Panel from Abuja, Mr. Obe Opunkun, declared Iyaniwura winner of the election that was supervised by INEC.

He said: “I started my political career when I joined the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 1992 and contested as a chairmanship aspirant of Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area (LGA) in 1993 during the failed attempt of General Sani Abacha to turn the polity from military to democratic rule. I later joined the defunct Grassroot Democratic Movement (GDM) in 1996.” The politician said at the eve of this republic in 1999, he joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and later became the coordinator, North Central Movement for the Sustenance of Democracy International from 1999 till date. According to him, he lost the primary election for Nasarawa State House of Assembly under the PDP in 2007.

As crime, violence surge in Oyo, police call for vigilance

Share Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has in recent weeks experienced a surge in incidences of violence, gang clashes, vandalism, looting, kidnapping, jungle justice and other criminalities. From Yemetu to Aremo, Monatan, Bashorun, Elekuro, Oke-Ado, Orita Aperin among others, it has a record of one form of criminality or the other, in the past few days. On Monday alone, there was a mob attack on three persons alleged to be criminals in Oke-Ado, Molete and Monatan areas of Ibadan. While two persons were burnt in the Oke-Ado and Monatan incidents, the alleged criminal in Molete was rescued from the throes of death by the men of the Amotekun corps.
