Cross Words: How worship and missions are related
By Isaiah Pauley - Cross Words
On any given Sunday, I have the joy of leading our church in worship. And I’m reminded this week of the relationship between worship and missions.
The need for missions is great. Both in North America and around the world. Over 7,000 unreached people groups exist meaning that billions of people have insufficient access to the gospel. In other words, over 3 billion people (of nearly 8 billion people worldwide) have such a meager proportion of their population being evangelical that local churches are either non-existent or unable to reach people without outside help.

Cross Words: A theology of marriage
By Isaiah Pauley - Cross Words
A girl in a white dress walks down the aisle. Beautiful music plays in the background. A man, beaming with excitement, awaits her on the other side. The congregation stands, and the ceremony begins. Before long, the two newlyweds walk into a world of new opportunities and adventures.
Marriage is God’s idea. The foundation for marriage is clearly expressed in the first book of the Bible. It reads, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Gen. 2:24 ESV).

Cross Words: A theology of work
Work is not the result of sin in the world.
The Bible says, “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done” (Gen. 2:1-2 ESV).
We serve a God who works. Think about it for a second. Every giant tree. Every beautiful sunset. Every cool breeze on a warm day. It’s all a result of God’s handiwork.
My wife and I are expecting our first child this October. A few weeks ago, I saw him for the first time through an ultrasound. And my mind was blown. Because I saw God’s hand at work in a way I had never experienced before.
