Weekender: Left Coast Chamber; Catalyst Time Piece and More Art

Thursday, Feb, 4, 12:05 p.m. to 1 p.m., free, via Worlds collide as UC Davis graduate students in music and the creative writing program come together to bring us a performance. This concert will showcase collaborative works among five creative writing MFA students and four doctoral students in music composition and theory. The noon concert will also include music, theatre and dance students performing, as well as music faculty. The prerecorded concert will be shown on the and available for viewing after its premiere, Feb. 4, 12:05 p.m to 1 p.m. This is the third year of the collaboration. Originally scheduled for spring 2020, the concert was delayed due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Historic clock restored at St Mary s Church in Thornbury

The historic clock on the tower of St Mary s Church in Thornbury has been restored. Almost 200 years old, the clock is now back in position on the church tower having been away for a major overhaul. The old hand wound pendulum weights have been replaced with new electrically operated ones and the hourly chime can be heard once more. St Mary s Church tower Various changes have been made to the church over the last year, to make the building more user-friendly and adaptable for future community use. A new audio-visual system, including a permanent projector and drop-down screen with repeater monitors to cover the side aisles.

(Wilfrid Laurier University) He left Brandon University 10 years ago, but faculty members say Glen Carruthers’ legacy lives on in various ways. Advertisement The past School of Music dean died recently at age 66 as a result of cancer. Flags were to be lowered to half-mast at both Brandon University and Wilfrid Laurier University, where he most recently served as dean of the Faculty of Music. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Glen studied with lifelong mentor Lorne Watson at Brandon University in the 1970s, returning a couple of decades later to serve as a faculty member from 1998 to 2010.
