After months of preparation, the virtual St Patrick’s Day celebrations gets under way. The people of the city and county and Kilkenny’s diaspora are set to celebrate the national holiday online, and look forward ‘le Dóchas’ to a much better year ahead.
All the events of the day and evening will take place online at stpatricksfestivalkilkenny.com beginning at 11.30am tomorrow morning and running right through to 9pm. The day will be packed with music, arts activities, storytelling, animation, singing and environmental activities as the programme which has been in production for months swings into action.

Music Generation Kilkenny lauded as a huge success

Music Generation is one of the positive stories of 2020 - a group of people who refused to allow a pandemic hamper their success.
In November young people from Music Generation Kilkenny release their debut single titled Feel The Victory.
Following an intensive virtual song-writing camp, the young people of Music Generation Kilkenny wrote, performed and recorded Feel The Victory at the DRUM Youth Centre, in partnership with Foróige.
Written during lockdown by the talented young people of Music Generation Kilkenny, the video was produced and shot in Kilkenny city.

THERE WAS A lot of fighting among U2 band members about whether to go public with their donation of €10 million to source and buy personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline staff earlier this year, according to Bono.
The donation was part of an initiative involving Irish aircraft leasing company Avolon, which was working with public and private companies to raise funds to buy tonnes of PPE equipment from China.
