Kingsbury Green Power 10 students Students at Calne’s Kingsbury Green Academy are training to be the leaders of the future, thanks to a programme developed by the Royal Wootton Bassett Academy Trust. Year 9 students at Kingsbury Green Academy who want to learn leadership skills are invited to apply for a place on the school’s Power of 10 programme, in which they learn to coach primary school pupils in sports such as netball, and help organise tournaments, festivals and fixtures. Scott Ferguson, Head of Physical Education and Sports Science said that the most promising students are normally selected to join the programme, which includes hosting all the local primary schools in sports tournaments.

Havering Athletic Club has enjoyed a resurgent return after lockdown.
Now open for more than five weeks since March 29, club secretary Tony Benton spoke of a thriving facility: It has been great since we came back. We have had higher than usual retention for this time of year and over 250 athletes are registered with England Athletics to compete. Athletes are highly motivated and are training hard. We hosted an open competition at Hornchurch last Sunday which attracted 300 entrants from our club, all over Essex and further afield.
Women can’t even exercise without being harassed by men
When my friend and I were watched by a man as we swam, we didn’t think much more of it – but then the tragic case of Sarah Everard unfolded

Two weeks ago I went for a chilly swim at a nearby lake that I’ve been swimming in throughout lockdown. It’s on a quiet, sprawling common, where the only other people you see are the odd dog walker or another wild swimmer.
This time, however, a man in his 50s walked a few feet behind me on my way across the common to the lake, followed me to the spot where I set down my kit bag, and asked if I was going for a swim. My friend, who I swim with, soon turned up and we answered a few more of his questions (did we swim often? was it very cold?) while waiting awkwardly, politely even, for him to leave so we could get changed.

It has taken Keely Hodgkinson little more than five weeks to catapult herself from promising junior to international recognition.
Fresh from becoming the first British woman to break a world under-20 record since Zola Budd 36 years ago, Hodgkinson on Sunday became Britain’s youngest European indoor champion for more than 50 years with a dominant front-running display to win 800 metres gold just four days after her 19th birthday.
