Arthur Okorie Okowa, father of Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, is dead.
SaharaReporters reliably gathered that Okowa, aged 89, died in the early hours of Thursday at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba, following suspected COVID-19 complications.

The octogenarian from Owa-Alero, Ika North East Local Government Area of the state, was the Okpara-Uku of Owa-Alero.
Our correspondent gathered that the corpse of the governor s father has since been deposited in the mortuary.

THE father of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Chief Arthur Okorie Uzoma Okowa is dead.
He died in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 88. The Governor’s father who hails from Owa-Alero, Ika North East Local Government Area of the State, reportedly died at Asaba.
Until his death, the late Chief Arthur Okorie Uzoma Okowa popularly called AOU was the Okpara-Uku of Owa-Alero.
A family source told Vanguard that the Octogenarian has been on and off with illness. However, the cause of death was not known as at press time.

Delta State Government at the weekend approved the reconstruction of some roads to further enhance the economic values of communities especially those in the rural areas.
The roads included the widening and rehabilitation of the 2.1 kilometres Orhunwhorun to DSC in Aladja, Udu Local Government Area at a total cost of N398.2 million, the construction of Aragba-Orogun township Roads in Ughelli North Local Government Area at N552 million and the overlay of the Old Lagos/Asaba road through Umunede/Ekwuoma/Igbodo in Ika North East Local Government Area with a spur. costing N310 million.

Delta commissioner warns youths against drug abuse

Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, has cautioned Nigerian youths against drug abuse, because of its psychological damage to users and society.
A statement on Saturday, in Asaba, quoted the commissioner as giving the advise at the Annual General Meeting of Akumazi Youths Association in Akumazi, Ika North East Local Government Area of the state.
Aniagwu said that many persons had lost their destinies and purpose to illicit drug use, adding that drug addiction had never favoured anyone, so the youths should strive to seek other meaningful and profitable enterprises.
