Typically, endowment plans have a policy term of over 10 years and the rate of returns generated over such a long term, including various bonuses, have been significantly lower than that generated by well-performing equity mutual funds. Over the long run, you should be able to generate a much larger corpus through equity mutual funds than endowment plans or fixed income instruments. One night in 1858, Carter Dowling, an enslaved Black man forced to work without pay at the Virginia Theological Seminary in Northern Virginia, made the brave decision to escape.
He made it to Philadelphia, where he met the famed abolitionist William Still. He then continued north to Canada and, after the Civil War, returned to Washington, D.C., where he was able to open a bank account for his children. He eventually went on to work as a labor organizer in Buffalo.

Poojari on Thursday issued a circular directing the Commissioner for Endowments to make arrangements to provide groceries to the priests working in
temples in rural areas. “Arrangements should be made to utilise groceries stocked at A category temples to distribute among the priests in rural areas. If there is shortage for groceries at A category temples, arrangements have to be made to procure groceries worth Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 for each of the priests in rural areas,” the minister said in the circular.
