Of Mice & Men are back! This time with the first in a series of (at least) three ep’s, “Timeless”. Listen in as Ozz talks with Front-man Arron Pauley about the direction of the latest release and where the next ep’s might take us.
Of Mice & Men (often abbreviated
OM&M) is an American rock band formed in Costa Mesa, California in 2009. The band’s line-up currently consists of lead vocalist and bassist Aaron Pauley, guitarists Phil Manansala and Alan Ashby, and drummer Valentino Arteaga. The group was founded by former lead vocalist Austin Carlile and former bassist Jaxin Hall in mid-2009 after Carlile’s departure from Attack Attack!. Carlile departed from the band in December 2016 citing that a long-term health condition prompted his exit. After Carlile’s departure, the band continued to pursue creating music with Pauley as the band’s bassist and lead vocalist.

Earthandsky in 2018 and 2019, respectively. These records were the band s first since the departure of singer Austin Carlile and, sonically, Obsolete carries on in a similar vein as these Aaron Pauley-fronted efforts.
Beyond the churning grooves, melodic overtones and harsh/clean singing counterparts is a slightly cinematic sense that overtakes the bridge on Obsolete as orchestral bits offer a point of reflection on the thought-provoking single. There s an old idiom about what you re supposed to do when life gives you lemons. Sadly, to disappoint, this wasn t exactly that, said Pauley of the EP. We started writing this EP shortly before the initial lockdowns in spring of 2020, before we knew that our world was about to become a radically different place. A lot of these songs were born from a place of wondering how we d fit into 2020 and beyond, both as adults in our 30s as well as a band that s a decade into our existence.

What do basketball legend Steve Kerr, rock star Austin Carlile, and me, a pastry chef and mom from Waialua have in common?
We all have a little known, rare condition called Cerebral Spinal Fluid Leaks. Spontaneous CSF leaks are thought to be caused by a defect in connective tissue, which can cause weakness, holes and tears in the dura, the leather-like covering that surrounds the spinal cord.
The dura serves an important purpose in the body–it holds your cerebral spinal fluid, which is the fluid that creates a buffer between your brain and spinal cord and your body. CSF fluid is clear and colorless and bathes and soothes your brain and spinal cord, transporting nutrients and eliminating waste. It also serves as a shock absorber and helps to protect the brain and spine from trauma. It flows in and out of ventricles in the brain, soothing nerves and the lining of the brain. One way to think of it is as the blood of the nervous system.
