Ski cross world champion Näslund among those added to Sweden s Beijing 2022 team

Thursday, 20 May 2021 The Swedish Olympic Committee (SOC) has announced the addition of seven more athletes to its team for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, meaning 16 have now had their places at the Games confirmed. Four ski cross specialists and three Alpine skiers have joined the team, most notably women s ski cross world champion Sandra Näslund who finished fifth at the Sochi 2014 Games aged 17, before placing fourth at Pyeongchang 2018. Also part of the squad are ski cross brothers Erik and David Mobärg, with the former coming into good form last season when he finished third in the men s competition at the World Championships.

Sweden names elite squads for 2021-2022 cross-country season Tuesday, 4 May 2021 Olympic champion Charlotte Kalla and world champion Jonna Sundling are among the athletes named on the Swedish cross-country skiing squad for the 2021-2022 season. Kalla, a three-time Olympic gold medallist who won the 15 kilometres skiathlon at Pyeongchang 2018, confirmed last month that she would continue her career following a difficult campaign. The 33-year-old battled injury as well as coronary heart disease during the 2020-21 season, but outlined her ambition to represent Sweden at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. Kalla leads a strong women s team, which also includes Sundling, gold medallist in the individual and team sprint at the 2021 Nordic World Ski Championships.
