The privately owned aggregator has appointed a former credit analyst to its newly created Queensland BDM role.
Specialist Finance Group (SFG) has appointed former credit analyst Amy Thorburn to the newly-created business development manager role (BDM) in Queensland.
Speaking with The Adviser, Ms Thorburn said that in her new role, she will look after existing Queensland members and growing the state s member base. In addition, she will be facilitating learning professional development days, online lender sessions, and organising social events for members to participate in.
Ms Thorburn – who commenced her new role yesterday (5 July 2021) – has worked with finance brokers in the third-party space for over 20 years, and began her career in Melbourne at Aussie Home Loans.

Following the news that Aussie CEO James Symond is to step down from his role, the industry has been reflecting on the Symond family s contribution to mortgage broking in Australia.
On Tuesday afternoon (27 April), it was announced that the chief executive officer of the major brokerage, James Symond, would be stepping down from his role following the imminent merger of Aussie and Lendi. There has not yet been confirmation of when his final day at the company will be.
The move will mark the first time in Aussie’s 29-year history that a member of the Symond family has not held a position at the company.
There is no silver bullet that explains it, there s been multiple forces driving the increase and it shows that what s expensive today will be considered cheap tomorrow. Many of the suburbs with the biggest price rises over the past 30 years were near the site of the coming second airport at Badgerys Creek in Sydney s far west. Homes in the region, including in suburbs Kemps Creek, Rossmore and Bringelly, averaged about $110,000 to $145,000 in 1990 but are now around the $3 million mark after growing more than 2000 per cent. There were also considerable price rises in gentrified inner west suburbs and beach enclaves, along with new housing estates in the Penrith and Hawkesbury regions.
