Throughout the month of December 2020, the force ran a campaign across the county’s roads in an effort to stamp out offenders driving while under the influence of alcohol or illicit substances. Drink driving and drug driving are seen as one of the factors that make up Dorset Police’s ‘fatal five’ – the five most dangerous behaviours for those in charge of a vehicle.
DRAMATIC footage shows firefighters incredible efforts after a car burst into flames on the A31 in Dorset. The fire brigade said the car was completely destroyed by flames. Fortunately nobody was injured and the road reopened several hours later. A spokesman for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: A crew from Springbourne responded to a vehicle fire on the A31 at the slip road of Ashley Heath roundabout along with an appliance from Ringwood. Two breathing apparatus wearers used one hose reel jet to extinguish the vehicle fire and also manage the oil spill from the vehicle. The vehicle was completely destroyed by fire. Crews left the scene at 12pm.
