Despite chances for Ademola Lookman, including a header which dipped over the bar from an Antonee Robinson cross, as the game went on, Burnley looked the more likely to find the crucial first goal.
The visitors had the ball in the back of the net when Wood tapped the ball past Alphonse Areola, but it was disallowed.
The France international was called on again from a corner to bundle the ball behind on the goal line, but Burnley looked to be getting closer.

The Clarets were then rewarded for their efforts when Westwood was picked out at the back post by Matej Vydra and he made no mistakes slotting the ball home.
Fulham relegated from EPL after one season
Fulham became the third and final team to be relegated from the English Premier League, with a 2-0 loss to Burnley sealing the London club’s return to the second-tier Championship on Monday.

LONDON Relegation, promotion, and now relegation again.
Fulham s rollercoaster ride between the top two divisions of English soccer has taken the London club back out of the Premier League, its fate sealed by losing to Burnley 2-0 on Monday.
Fulham joined Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion in going down to the Championship, wrapping up the Premier League s relegation battle at the earliest ever stage with three rounds still to go.
In the end Fulham contrived the great escape bid that never quite was, seeming favoured for survival after winning at Anfield in March but amassing a single point from the subsequent seven games. They are tidy, bright and well structured but almost completely toothless too, ultimately offering little to stir the blood even though two or three of their squad should have a fair shot at playing top-level football somewhere next season.
A draw here would have ensured Fulham retained a faint pulse; victory might have left Burnley facing late-season flutters of their own, but neither outcome would have been deserved.

Of the three clubs to be relegated from the Premier League this season, it is Fulham who will go down with the most regrets. There is a proper team somewhere in this squad, a side of genuine potential that has occasionally surfaced against some of the leagueâs most formidable opponents.
Victories away to Liverpool, Everton and Leicester City showed what Fulham can do under Scott Parker and what they can be, as a unit, on their day. The problem is that it has not been their day often enough in the last two months, when the momentum they had built has been lost as surely as the winter chill has turned to spring breeze.
