JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Members of the Jackson City Council say they still havenât seen specific strategies nor funding requests from Jackson Police Chief James Davis, intended to tackle the escalation of violent crime in the city since 2021 began.
During a two-hour law enforcement ad-hoc committee meeting Tuesday, Davis and members of JPDâs command staff faced a barrage of questions, not all of which were answered.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Jackson Ward Two Councilwoman Angelique Lee says her decision to name a relative as the new deputy city clerk was legal, despite some decrying the move as nepotism.
3 On Your Side received a tip that Lee hired her âfirst cousinâ as a full-time deputy city clerk.
Lee, though, says the appointment was signed off on by Jacksonâs legal department.
The recently elected councilwoman says that her appointee, Harold Patton, is related to her, but is not her first cousin.
