He had two cheques totalling $429,240 from Victoria to support local infrastructure development.
The grants include $319,240 from the Towns for Tomorrow program for the
Murray Ridge Ski Area Redevelopment project and $110,000 to develop a
Spirit Square.
“The Towns for Tomorrow funding will help the municipality and the ski hill,” Rustad said. “It helps upgrade the facilities at the ski hill.”
The work at Murray Ridge will include the development of a potable water supply, upgrades to the lodge, upgrades to the trail, purchasing of a groomer and the construction of an upper mountain gazebo.
The Spirit Square will be constructed on Stuart Drive, near the commercial core of the town, overlooking Stuart Lake. It will include extensive landscaping, including stone surfaces, benches, historical photo displays, trees, flower beds and lighting.
