DETROIT Nobody would have faulted Matthew Stafford for sitting this one out. Heck, a lot of people were calling for it.
But those people don’t know Matthew Stafford. He wants to play, and play he will when the Detroit Lions wrap up another awful season on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. He’s active despite being lised as questionable with rib, ankle and throwing hand injuries.
Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions: Inactive lists for both teams
Who will be sitting this one out?
Harrison Barden-USA TODAY Sports
We’re just a shade under ninety minutes from kickoff at Ford Field, and the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions have both released their final inactive lists of the 2020 NFL season. Let’s take a look at who will be sitting this one out for both sides, starting with the visiting team.

Pretty easy to do the inactives for the Vikings this week, as they declared six players as “out” on the final injury report. The team will also be without left tackle Riley Reiff, who is still on the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list. So, it’s a pretty short-handed squad for the purple in this one. Hinton, who was just called up to the active roster earlier this week, will not make his NFL debut today.
Price played in games against the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers last month, primarily on special teams. The Lions waived safety/special teams ace Jayron Kearse earlier this week, in part to take a look at some of the younger defensive backs on their roster.
The Lions also elevated offensive lineman Evan Brown and defensive lineman Albert Huggins to the gameday roster from practice squad, waived defensive lineman Frank Herron and restored linebacker Anthony Pittman to practice squad from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

CLEVELAND Down at least five players and three assistant coaches, the Cleveland Browns will try to become a playoff team again.
Unable to practice most of the week because of COVID-19 cases and protocols, the Browns said Saturday that offensive line coach Bill Callahan and assistant line coach Scott Peters will miss Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers as Cleveland tries to lock up its first postseason berth since 2002.

DETROIT It seems Matthew Stafford isn’t the only Lions player who will try to come back from an injury in the season finale.
Defensive tackle Danny Shelton has been activated from injured reserve and is expected to suit up on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. Shelton suffered a knee injury on Thanksgiving and missed the last four games, dealing yet another serious blow to Detroit’s embattled defense.
