The Pink Stones Miss Wind Turbine is a love song, but its origins are far from what listeners will expect. A road trip across the southern United States and a first glimpse at a familiar site on the Texas Plains inspired the new song, premiering exclusively on The Boot.
While lead vocalist and guitarist Hunter Pinkston s lyrics appear to honor a breezy, carefree sort of woman, it s all a metaphor. The person who prompted the idea for the song isn t a person at all, but rather a literal wind turbine something the Albany, Ga., native had never seen before.
The Badloves Get On Board A Vinyl Tour
The Badloves will head around Australia to support the first ever vinyl release of their classic ‘Get On Board’ album.
‘Get On Board’ was released in 1993 at the height of the CD format. It was not released on vinyl in its day. The album spent 69 weeks on the chart and generated the singles Lost, Memphis, I Remember, and Green Limousine. The band then went on to be nominated for five ARIA Awards – Album of The Year, Single of The Year (Lost), Breakthrough Artist – Album, Breakthrough Artist – Single (Lost), and Best New Talent. The band secured two awards for Breakthrough Artist – Album and Breakthrough Artist – Single.
While the pandemic has dealt a crippling blow to the live performance industry, many artists have taken advantage of the forced downtime to focus on writing and recording new music. Even if it means sharing and merging audio files online or cautiously returning to a studio with fewer bodies around.
That’s how it was for Jason Ringenberg, whose new album
Rhinestoned drops on March 5. It was a process that mostly involved just himself and producer/engineer/multi-instrumentalist George Bradfute. Bradfute’s recording studio is in the basement of the former home of late “gentleman country crooner” Jim Reeves (“He’ll Have to Go,” “Four Walls”). Steve Ebe (drums), Fats Kaplin (steel guitar/fiddle), and Ringenberg’s own daughter Addie and Camille (vocals, piano) also pitched in.
