Reactions as Aldi turn court feud with M&S into viral uprising
The battle between Colin the Caterpillar and Cuthbert the Caterpillar is getting tasty.
On the day of Prince Philip’s funeral, it is an unlikely feud between Aldi and Marks & Spencer that took centre stage on Twitter this morning as the supermarket chains lock heads over their respective versions of the Colin the Caterpillar cake.
M&S lodged an intellectual property claim with the High Court this week, arguing that the similarity of Aldi’s product leads consumers to believe they are of the same standard and “ride on the coat-tails” of M&S’s reputation with the product.

The German supermarket chain issued an update on Tuesday evening, informing customers that some of the advertised Specialbuys will not be available in-store on Thursday.
Issuing a statement on social media, Aldi said they have had to postpone the sale of the listed items due to shipping delays.
The statement read: We’re sorry, a few cycling essentials due on sale this Thursday are postponed due to shipping delays. We are working hard to make them available to you as soon as possible!
