ALTON An Alton Municipal Band brass ensemble returns for the 131st season.
The ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Riverview Park’s gazebo to kick off the fourth week of the Alton Muny Band’s Concerts in the Park series, appropriately themed patriotic. David Drillinger will conduct and play trumpet in the ensemble.

The Alton Municipal Band kicks off its 131
st consecutive season on June 13 at Haskell Park. The free concerts feature dozens of local musicians with a different theme and song list each week. The Sunday performances at Haskell Park begin at 7pm.
For now, the Thursday shows at Riverview Park are on hold. But band director David Drillinger tells The Big Z that could change later in the season.

Spectators are also encouraged to spread out and observe other public health precautions. Open rehearsals have begun in the Trimpe Building at Lewis and Clark Community College, and anyone wishing to audition can contact the group at [email protected]
