The
Daily Express is campaigning for a reduction in tuition fees; rent rebates for students unable to live in university accommodation; and greater use of hardship funds.
Campaigners said the sky-high salaries for university chiefs are a slap in the face for students already struggling to make ends meet with inadequate maintenance loans and all-time high tuition fees .
Third-year student Anastasia Christodoulou, 20, said: Students are being viewed as nothing but moneybags for universities, and it is unfair that they are the ones who have to feel the repercussions. I think it s such an unjustifiable amount of money. I m pretty sure the UEA vice-chancellor earns £271,000, which is nearly twice the salary of the Prime Minister. It s especially ridiculous that UEA has both staff and students that are struggling financially, and a student s union that has also been struggling.
Chair of College Council John Allan and Provost Ian Walmsley responded to the letter earlier today to address the key concerns from the Union about the bullying inquiry.

Imperial vaccine tech to target COVID mutations and booster doses
Imperial is focusing its RNA vaccine technology to target SARS-CoV-2 mutations, boosters and thermostability rather than an immediate efficacy trial.
“We want our technology to have the greatest impact. That means developing self-amplifying RNA technology to adapt to new variants, to boost other vaccines and to be deployed against future pandemic threats.” Professor Robin Shattock Imperial College London
As other COVID-19 vaccines are being licensed and rolled out, Professor Robin Shattock‘s team is working to maximise the impact of their groundbreaking self-amplifying RNA technology.
This includes developing the ability to respond rapidly if vaccine-resistant strains emerge, or the need for booster vaccines arises.
